Mail Buddy

For families who help a parent with the mail

Mom's mail, handled. With the family in the loop.

Mom snaps a photo of each letter. Mail Buddy tells her, in big print and out loud, what it is and what to do. You get a Monday summary, and a heads up when a scam asks for money.

Try the free scam check

Mail Buddy opens soon. The free scam check works today.

  • Free for Mom, forever
  • Plus for the family: a month
  • One email when it opens

How it works

Simple for Mom. Reassuring for you.

Two steps on her side. One on yours.

  1. Mom taps Scan a letter

One big button on her phone. She holds it over any letter, and the phone photographs each page by itself, corners straightened.

  2. Mail Buddy reads it and says what to do

A big card appears and the phone reads it out loud: a bill to pay, a notice to file, or a warning not to pay. Not sure? It says so.

  3. You get the week, and the alerts

Every Monday, one email for the whole week: what needs doing, what was caught, what changed. And the moment anything urgent happens, an alert goes straight to you.

What Mom sees

One big, clear card for every letter

Big type, read out loud. The colour matches the words, and the words say the whole thing.

Nothing to do

Medicare notice. Nothing to do. File it under Health.

Something to do

Bill from Piedmont Electric, $84.12, due October 12.

Looks like a scam

A "court fine" that must be wired today. Do not pay it. Do not call the number on it.

And when Mail Buddy is not sure, it never guesses. It says so, and tells her to call the number on her own card or statement, not the one printed in the letter.

For you

For you, who already keeps an eye on Mom's mail

One calm email on Mondays, and a quick alert only when something cannot wait. Both come with Plus, and the first month is free.

The Monday summary

  • What needs doing this week.
  • Scams caught, with what each one was after.
  • Every bill and its due date, in one list.
  • Bills that changed since last time, so a quiet rise never slips past.

The instant alerts

  • A letter looks like a scam and asks for money.
  • A bill is due in 3 days and nobody has marked it paid.
  • A government or legal letter needs an answer, and by when.
  • A bill is 20% above its usual amount.
  • A new company has suddenly started sending bills.

That is the whole list. If none of these happens, we stay quiet until Monday. On the free plan, one family member gets a weekly count instead.

Mom stays in charge

Mail Buddy helps. Mom decides.

Nobody sees her mail unless she says yes, on her own phone, in words she can read. She can see everyone who has access, and she can change her mind any time.

  • Every person who sees her mail needs her yes, on her own phone.
  • She sees everyone who has access in a plain list: names, emails, and who invited them.
  • She can remove anyone with one tap, and their access is gone.
  • No secret access, and no accounts she does not know about.
  • Mail Buddy never calls a letter safe. When it is not sure, it says so and tells her to call the number on her own card or statement.

Privacy

Her mail stays private

Plain promises about the numbers and the photos.

Only the last 4 digits

For account, card and Social Security numbers we keep only the last 4 digits. The whole number is never saved.

Photos are locked, then deleted

Page photos are encrypted before they are stored, and deleted after 30 days on the free plan. Older letters keep only their short summary.

No ads, ever

Nobody is selling your attention here. The family subscription is what pays for Mail Buddy.

Never sold

Your family's mail is never sold, and never shared for marketing.

Questions

Common questions

Are the photos private?

The photos are locked (encrypted) before they are stored, and deleted after 30 days on the free plan. For account, card and Social Security numbers we keep only the last 4 digits. The words of the letter are read for the check, then dropped. There are no ads, and nothing is sold. The privacy page says more.

Would it catch a fake fine, or a demand to wire money?

That is exactly what it looks for: payment by wire, gift card or crypto, a fee to collect a prize, threats of arrest or of stopped benefits, pressure to pay today, and being told to keep it secret. When it sees those, Mom gets a red card saying not to pay, and you get an alert. Try the free scam check with a sample fake fine.

Does Mom need an account?

No. Her phone is her account, so she never has to sign in to anything. Family members sign in with Connections, a free sign-in service that works like signing in with Google: one login that keeps each family member separate. She approves each one on her own screen.

What if Mom's eyesight is not great?

Every card is in big print and is read out loud. She can also make the text larger still in the app's settings.

What happens if Mom passes away?

It is hard to think about, so we planned for it. Estate mode turns every company into a simple "close this account" task, flags any letter asking the estate for money, and makes one export for the executor. And billing never quietly carries on.

Can it pay bills?

Not in the first version. It tells you what is due and reminds you before the date. Mom's side is free; the family pays for Plus, monthly or yearly.

Which phones does it work on?

iPhone, Android, and any web browser.
